NMA Renews AMR Gold Exploration Licences
Kamakwie, Sierra Leone: The National Minerals Agency (NMA), the agency tasked with the responsibility to monitor the activities of all of its exploration and mine development companies in Sierra Leone, has announced the renewal of the Exploration Licences of AMR Gold, allowing the mining and exploration company to continue enhancing its operations in Sierra Leone.
The 3 year extensions , approved by the NMA, state that AMR Gold is still operating within its nine year exploration period and that the three exploration licences will allow AMR Gold to continue to explore for and evaluate mineral deposits in the Sanda Loko and Sella Limba Chiefdoms .
As well as confirming the renewal Exploration Licences, Inspector of Mines and Compliance, Mohamed Bah, revealed that the company’s application for small scale mining licence over a coltan deposit evaluated during the initial Exploration Licence period has been granted pending the approval of an Environmental Impact Assessment Report.
Representing the Paramount Chief of Sella Limba Chiefdom, the Section Chief of Kamakwie, Alimamy Soko Turay, used the opportunity to commend AMR Gold, saying: ‘I am honestly impressed with the administration of the current AMR Gold leadership’ adding that AMR Gold ‘has built schools and bridges; renovated our Court Barry and the police station among others.’
Dr Ketelaar, AMR Gold Country Manager, said: ‘We are delighted with the Licence renewal and grateful to the Paramount Chief for the constructive relationship between us.’
